France ready to join UN force

Paris - France will contribute troops to a stronger UN force in south Lebanon as long as sufficient security guarantees are first made, the Prime Minister, Mr Lionel Jospin, said yesterday. "If UNIFIL is to be redeployed it will be for a short period and with the sole objective of helping the Lebanese government restore its authority in the region," he said.
