A machete wielding drug addict, who was caught by a waiting garda as he tried to rob the same shop for a second time in a fortnight, has been jailed for four years by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court

Garda Rory Corcoran was in the rear of Noel's Grocery Store at Stoneybatter when James Kavanagh made his second visit on February 16th last. The garda caught him nearby after a chase.

Kavanagh (29), of Smithfield Terrace, Dublin, pleaded guilty to charges of robbery and attempted robbery of Mr Noel Lynch.
