Two men were killed in a motorbike accident near Fethard, Co Tipperary, last night. The motorbike they were riding was involved in a collision with a car just after 8 p.m..

Early yesterday, a pedestrian was killed in Sligo town. Mr Mark Rooney (27), from St Joseph's Terrace, was struck by a car as he was walking at John F Kennedy Parade at 2.30 a.m.

On Saturday afternoon, a woman was killed in an accident between a car and a van in Co Westmeath. Ms Wendy Lynch (33), from Downpatrick, Co Down, was driving the car when the vehicles collided at Lynn, between Mullingar and Kilbeggan. Two men were taken to hospital in Mullingar for injuries which were not life-threatening.

A man in his 30s died following a fall from the Cliffs of Moher, Co Clare, on Saturday. The alarm was raised at 5.30 p.m. and Doolin rescue boat recovered the body at 7.30 p.m.

Meanwhile, gardaí are following a definite line of inquiry into the shooting of a man in Clonmel, Co Tipperary. The man, in his mid-30s, received a shotgun blast to his leg at a Traveller halting site at 11.40 a.m. yesterday. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Two divers were airlifted from a boat off Horn Head, Co Donegal, yesterday after they showed symptoms of decompression illness. They were taken to Craigavon hospital in a decompression chamber and their condition had improved last night.
