Four gardaí were hospitalised in Dublin following attacks early yesterday morning

Four gardaí were hospitalised in Dublin following attacks early yesterday morning. The officers received minor injuries and were discharged within hours.

The first incident took place in the north inner-city at Summerhill before 1 a.m. Gardaí were called to a fast-food restaurant where a robbery was allegedly taking place. A man sprayed three officers with pepper spray. He was arrested and the gardaí were taken to hospital.

In another incident a man attacked gardaí at Shankill Garda station. He punched a sergeant in the face and then bit his finger. The sergeant was brought to hospital as a precautionary measure, and was released at 6 a.m. The man has appeared before Bray District Court.

In a third incident, a woman walked into Blackrock Garda station at around 5 a.m. and threatened a garda with a knife. No one was injured. The woman is to appear before Dún Laoghaire District Court today.
