Gardai in Limerick have named the victim of the stabbing incident in the city this morning as Martin O'Donoghue of Brendan Street, Saint Mary's Park, Limerick.

He was 36 years old.

Two men and two women have been arrested in connection with the stabbing.

The four are all aged in their twenties and thirties, according to Gardai, and they were arrested in various locations in North Limerick this morning.

A 36-year-old Limerick man who was arrested this morning was released after questioning.

The 34-year-old victim was found shortly after midnight outside a pub in Broad Street.

He was brought to the Mid-Western Regional hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

The scene was sealed off for a forensic examination.

The two men and one woman are being held in Henry Street Garda Station.  The other woman is being held in Mayorstone Garda Station.
