A former Miss Cork has been disqualified from driving for six months after a court heard she cut across traffic lanes at high speed earlier this year.

Ms Antonia Moore, of Rostellan, Midleton, Cork was before Judge John O'Neill at Midleton District Court yesterday where she pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving earlier this year.

The court heard that the 21 year-old — who was crowned Miss Cork in 2000 — was observed by gardaí driving at high speed down the main street of Midleton just after midnight on January 30th of this year.

The court heard the former model had a number of previous road traffic offences — including a conviction for having no insurance — and that when stopped by gardaí admitted that she was "showing off for friends in the car".

She was convicted of dangerous driving by Judge John O'Neill who said he couldn't dismiss her "disregard for any traffic coming against her".

"It might be better if I was to put her off the road for a period of time so she can focus on the fact that she can't drive around without the proper documentation and in a manner that she was driving," the District Court Judge said, disqualifying Ms Moore for six months, imposing a fine of €300 and endorsing her license.
