A former bank manager was yesterday sent forward for trial on charges of failing to make tax returns over an eight-year period.

Ronald Martin (62), Kilmolin, Enniskerry, Co Wicklow, faces eight charges under the Taxes Consolidation Act with failing to make returns between 1997 and 2004. The charges are brought by the Criminal Assets Bureau.

He appeared in Dublin District Court which heard the book of evidence had been served and that there was no objection to his original bail being extended for the purpose of his trial in the Circuit Court.

Judge Bryan Smyth ordered that his original personal bond of €1,000 be applied pending trial.

He sent him for trial to the next sittings of the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
