Geneva - The United Nations food agency appealed yesterday for $29 million to provide food to 750,000 people in the drought-hit former Soviet republic of Georgia until the middle of 2001.

The FAO is seeking about 65,775 tonnes of food over an eight-month period for about 750,000 people.
