IF the UN flag looks a bit dishevelled it's because it was just involved in an accident

IF the UN flag looks a bit dishevelled it's because it was just involved in an accident. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mary Robinson met members of the Oireachtas sub committee on human rights at her office in Geneva earlier this month. After their discussion on abuses around the globe, including East Timor and Kosovo, a photograph was proposed and she suggested it would include the flag. Senator Pascal Mooney went to fetch it, but as he lifted it up, it became detached from its base and shot straight up into the ceiling above. There was a stunned silence all round. He put it back in its base and the group joined the flag, rather than the other way round. Left to right they are: Michael Creed TD, Ambassador Anne Anderson, Senator Pascal Mooney, Mrs Robinson and Gay Mitchell TD. The hole is in the ceiling above.
