Cervinara - Several rivers and streams swollen by driving rains in Italy broke their banks yesterday, causing mudslides and flooding that killed at least two people, officials said.

The worst-hit town was Cervinara in Avellino province east of Naples, where two elderly people died while trying to escape floodwaters near their home.
