Air passengers travelling to and from Spain today have been warned to expect flight disruptions due to a general strike. Aer Lingus said it planned to operate the “vast majority” of its scheduled flights but added that due to air traffic limitations, it had been forced to cancel the following flights.
The flights affected are: EI 048 Belfast to Malaga, EI 049 Malaga to Belfast, EI 882 Cork to Malaga and EI 883 Malaga to Cork.
An Aer Lingus spokesman said: "We expect to be able to operate the majority of our flights in and out of Spain . . . we will update our customers via SMS and on aerlingus.com."
A spokesman for Ryanair said yesterday the carrier was monitoring the situation, but that at the moment Irish flights remained unaffected.
