Stockholm - A nuclear alert by NATO after submarine sounds were heard under the sea off the Swedish coast could have been started by flatulent fish.

NATO ships headed for the Baltic Sea on full alert to try to track down the "enemy submarines", but found nothing. Instead, analysis of the propeller-like noises showed the sound could have come from a shoal of herring passing wind.
