DUBAI - Five candidates have thrown their hats into the ring for Iran's presidential election but the conservative speaker of parliament, Mr Ali Akbar Nateq Nouri, remains the front runner, according to analysts.
The Interior Minister, Mr Ali Mohammad Besharati, announced the date for the poll - May 23rd - at a meeting with Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and provincial governors. The poll is the seventh since the 1979 Islamic revolution.
