Berne - Five Germans were killed when their private aircraft, on a flight from Italy to Germany, crashed in the Swiss Alps, police said yesterday.

The Cessna 340 aircraft, which took off from Albenga, northern Italy, late on Monday, was heading for Stuttgart, Germany. The bodies were found inside the wreckage of the plane in the Klontal valley, east of Lucerne, after a lengthy air search.
