Five men are missing after a fishing boat sank this morning near the mouth of Glandore Harbour in Co Cork.

A sixth man was rescued and brought to Cork University Hospital by helicopter where his condition is thought to be stable.

It was thought earlier that one body had been recovered but rescuers have confirmed that no trace of the men has been found.

The boat, called the Tit Bonhomme, is a 21-metre long, steel-hulled second-hand French boat bought by Irish fishermen. It was fishing out of Union Hall.

The incident happened at 6am this morning. It is thought that the boat ran into an island, known as Eve island, near the mouth of the harbour. Irish Coastguard Sikorsky helicopters from Shannon and Waterford are searching the area.
