Lille - French fishermen, angered by soaring fuel prices, blocked the Channel port of Boulogne yesterday and threatened to take their protest to the major ferry ports of Calais and Dunkerque next week.

CFTC trade union leader, Mr Jacques Bigot, said the blockade of Boulogne would only last for a few hours. "This is just intended to wake people up to the problem," he said.
