Businesses will be urged today to learn how to measure and reduce their carbon footprint and help the global fight against climate change.
A major one-day conference, hosted by the Irish Business and Employers Confederation (Ibec), will see companies being addressed by a range of international and Irish speakers, including Minister for Energy Eamon Ryan, who will give the opening speech.
The event is being supported by Sustainable Energy Ireland, Enterprise Ireland and the Change campaign — the Government's plan of action against climate change.
An Ibec spokeswoman said: "The programme will include presentations from key Irish and international speakers who will explore the national and international factors driving organisations to reduce their carbon emission reductions; demonstrate how companies can measure their footprint; suggest how a company might reduce and offset their footprint with the use of examples and explain the importance of verification for the measurement and offset of carbon footprints."
The conference takes place in the Mansion House in Dublin.
