London - Nearly 400 people were evacuated after a fire broke out yesterday morning in London's Royal Garden Hotel, just 100 metres away from Kensington Palace, home to Queen Elizabeth's ailing younger sister, Princess Margaret.

The blaze damaged a laundry chute on the bottom floors of the 11-storey luxury hotel, but a Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said she doubted the fire affected members of the royal family living at the palace.
