A Dublin hotel was fined €600 yesterday on two counts of selling adulterated spirits. The prosecution followed an investigation by the Office of the Director of Consumer Affairs which found the alcohol content of vodka and gin sold at the premises did not match that indicated on bottles of the spirits.
Regan Development Ltd, trading as The Regency Hotel, was convicted at Dublin District Court on two counts of selling adulterated spirits at its premises at Swords Road, Whitehall.
The hotel pleaded guilty to the offences and was fined €300 on each count. It was also ordered to pay €300 costs.
The offence came to light following a complaint from a consumer.
