Staff working in the banking, insurance and building societies sector saw their earnings increase by an average of 5.5 per cent over the 12 months to June 2005, according to the Central Statistics Office.
This is slightly ahead of the average wage increases across the economy as a whole, which rose by 5.3 per cent over the same period.
The number of people working the sector grew by 2,200 over the same timeframe.
