Gardai in Dublin are preparing three separate files for the DPP in connection with the assault on a man on Grafton Street almost a fortnight ago.

Three men were questioned at Pearse Street Garda station yesterday in connection with the assault on librarian Mr Barry Duggan. All three were released without charge yesterday. Gardai are assembling files on the incident.

The men, aged 22, 24 and 26 were detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. Two were released after six hours of questioning. A third man was detained for an additional six hours. He was released at 9 p.m. last night.

The three are the same men who voluntarily presented themselves for questioning at Pearse Street Garda station two days after the assault on Mr Duggan.

Meanwhile, the injured man's condition remains the same. He has not regained consciousness, and is listed as stable but critical at St James's Hospital.
