Gardai in Galway are preparing a file on a man they suspect of having murdered an Oranmore farmer almost four years ago. Mr Tommy Casey (68), who lived alone, was beaten to death in his home at Oranbeg, Oranmore, in January 1996.
It is understood the suspect, who is in his 30s, is serving a prison sentence.
