Pakistan and Indian forces traded artillery fire today across their disputed border in the Kashmir, police and military sources said.
They said Indian forces opened fireusing mortars and medium artillery, targeting the Pando and Chamb sectors 60 kilometers (36 miles) southeast of Muzaffarabad.
The Pakistan forces retaliated, a military source said, adding there were no reports of casualties.
Police said the firing with heavy weapons lasted two hours and was followed by intermittent small-arms fire from the Indian side.
Pakistani and Indian troops deployed along the ‘Line of Control’ that divides Kashmir between the two countries regularly exchange fire, causing civil and military casualties.
However, there had been a lull in recent weeks which military officials attributed to the heavy snowfall in the region.
The firing resumed again on Friday after India's test of a nuclear-capable Agni missile.
Up to 800,000 troops have been massed on both sides of the border since India accused two Pakistan-based militant groups of carrying out an attack on the Indian parliament on December 13.
