A fifth person has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Tallaght on Friday night.

Séamus O’Byrne (27) was shot in the Tymon estate in Tallaght, west Dublin, in a killing that has been linked to a feud between rival drug gangs in the Crumlin and Drimnagh.

Mr O'Byrne and his partner were sitting in a car outside a house at Tymon North Park at about 8.30pm when a gunman approached their vehicle and opened fire with a handgun. It is believed that the dead man was shot in the back as he ran away from the gunman.

A 26-year-old woman was also shot in the leg during the attack. A gun was recovered from the scene.

A 31-year-old man was arrested this afternoon. He is being questioned under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Tallaght Garda station.
