A Fianna Fáil TD has called on publicans to stop selling an emerging "alcopop" drink, describing its consumption as "stupid and dangerous".
Mr Martin Brady said the emergence of the "Fat Frog" drink, which is a mixture of three different alocpos in a pint glass, "must be stopped now before it spirals out of control.
"To drink three types of alcopops in one glass is nothing other than stupid and dangerous.
"The 'Fat Frog Fad' will take off if publicans continue to serve them so I appeal to publicans to stop it now for the sake of us all as a nation which has a gigantic drinking problem.
"The sale of a drink which mixes one or more alco-pops together is a destructive combination. Publicans know this and yet continue to serve them, Mr Brady said.
"I say to publicans to please put decency and commonsense before profits and ban the sale of 'Fat Frogs' and other such concoctions in their pubs," Mr Brady added.
