Formula 1:  World governing body FIA have decided on the 12 competing teams in Formula 1 from 2008 but will wait until next week to announce the successful candidates.

All 11 current teams submitted entries for 2008 onwards and are expected to be accepted by the FIA, leaving 11 hopefuls chasing the one remaining spot.

Former BAR boss David Richards is tipped to earn a return to Formula One with his Prodrive company, who already run Subaru's world rally squad and Aston Martin's sportscar programme.

That will disappoint other high-profile entrants such as ex-Minardi owner Paul Stoddart, former BAR chief Craig Pollock and Eddie Jordan.

Full details of the 2008 grid will be confirmed next Friday.
