A group of women Fianna Fáil politicians today urged a Yes vote in the abortion referendum and accused the No campaign of resorting to "scare tactics".
The Minister for Public Enterprise, Ms Mary O'Rourke, accused the No campaign of using "misrepresentations" to swing public opinion.
"We have seen a lot of political tactics and shifting of position, but unfortunately we have yet to see any specific alternative to the Government's proposal from the opposition," she said.
She said a Yes vote would "give legal certainty for doctors, protecting existing medical procedures required to save the lives of women in pregnancy".
It would also protect the unborn and remove any doubt about the morning-after pill, ensuring it is legal, and ensure the people are consulted on future changes to the law, she said.
