A long running feud between two family groups in the Southill area of Limerick is said to be the cause of the petrol bomb and shooting incident at a house in the early hours of Sunday morning. Shots were also fired into another premises.

Three adults and four children were sleeping in the house when the petrol bomb exploded, causing it to catch fire. No one was injured.

Gardai were last evening questioning people about the two incidents.
