A Stena Line ship which suffered engine failure in all four of its engines on a Rosslare to Fishguard crossing this afternoon has docked safely in the Welsh port of Pembroke.
The Stena Europehad 155 passengers and 65 staff on board when it lost power to its engines five miles east of Carnsore Point in poor weather conditions before 1 p.m.
Two Coast Guard rescue helicopters were sent to the scene along with two RAF Sea King helicopters and an RAF Nimrod aircraft.
However, engineers on board managed to restart two engines within an hour of the failure. One helicopter remained to monitor the ship's progress on passage.
An engineer and surveyor from the British Marine and Coastguard Agency (MCA) boarded the ship at Pembroke. The company said the ship would only sail when given clearance by the MCA.
The company said it had no plans to replace the ship of it was cleared by the MCA. A large number of Munster rugby supporters are booked to travel to Wales tomorrow.
