A FATHER of two who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing two girls from the age of six, drilled a hole in his bedroom wall so a babysitter could watch him and his wife having sex.

The 51 year old man, who was abused as a child, was sentenced to five years in jail, two of them suspended, in Cork Circuit Court yesterday.

The two girls he abused from the age of three to 15, his niece and a neighbour, are both living in the United States The charges related to a number of occasions between 1974 and 1983.

The incidents came to light when one of the girls, now aged 27, confronted the man and his wife in a Cork city pub.

In a statement to gardai admitting the charges, he said he started abusing a neighbour's daughter when she was about eight.

Some time after this he drilled a hole in the wall from his child's bedroom so the neighbour's child who was acting as their babysitter could look through and see him and his common law wife having sex.
