The rules of the EU Early Retirement Scheme should be changed because the regulations requiring the young farmer to extend the size of the holding is creating problems, according to the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association. Mr Pat O'Rourke, ICMSA deputy president, said the enlargement clause has resulted in severe competition for land leading to inflated land and land leasing prices.
