Farmer remanded on Traveller murder charge

A Co Mayo farmer has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of a man on his land last October.

A Co Mayo farmer has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of a man on his land last October.

Padraig Nally (61) of Funshinagh, Cross, appeared in Ballycastle District Court charged with the murder of John Warde (43), a member of the Travelling community, from Carrowbrowne Halting Site, Galway, on October 14th.

The court heard Mr Nally was arrested this morning and brought to Ballinrobe Garda Station, where he was charged with murder. The court was told he had nothing to say when the charges were read out to him.

There was no application for bail. Mr Nally is due to appear at the same court tomorrow.
