A middle-aged farmer was killed while crushing grain on his farm near Roscrea yesterday. Mr William Maher, married with one daughter, of Knockeal, Cloughjordan, Co Offaly, died when he became entangled in machinery. Eleven people have died in farm accidents so far this year.
