Vienna - Austria's far right Freedom Party suffered heavy losses yesterday in a regional election in Styria seen as a first test of support for the national government of the far right and conservatives.
Voters said they felt betrayed by a party that entered government in February promising to protect ordinary Austrians, then pushed through spending cuts that have hit vulnerable groups including the unemployed and the sick.
