Families living close to the scene of a freak landslide in Mayo were urged to abandon their homes tonight amid fears the area may still be at risk.
Some 40 families in Pollathomas village were being encouraged to move out for three weeks while more tests are carried out.
The Minister for Rural Affairs, Mr Ó Cuív, today met with some of those affected.
Up to 100 residents in 25 houses in the village, 10 miles from Belmullet, were left isolated by the weekend landslide that followed hours of heavy rain.
A senior garda at the scene said it was "a miracle" nobody had been killed or seriously injured.
The incident caused damage to a coastal road and up to five bridges. The whole area lost power and water supplies for a period.
A two-mile stretch of road was buried under around seven feet of mud and police said rebuilding it would be a major engineering job.
The problem is expected to be discussed at tomorrow's cabinet meeting.
