Wembley chief executive Bob Stubbs revealed today that the stadium could be sold to a Premiership club.

There are fears the City will turn its back on attempts to raise the necessary £400million still needed for the £660million pound project for a new stadium.

But Brooks admitted complaints from local residents could throw a spanner in the works and he acknowledged there is a chance the FA might attempt their own revamping, as an alternative to abandoning the site and losing £140million already invested in the project.

He continued: "They would object to the stadium being used 30 times a year instead of a dozen times."
