The English Football Association said today that future FA Cup draws would not be held until all matches from the previous round had been completed.

The FA was criticised by Tottenham Hotspur manager George Graham and West Ham manager Harry Redknapp yesterday after Tottenham had beaten West Ham United 3-2 to book their place in the last four.

To suit the television schedules, the draw for the semi-finals was made moments before kick-off at Upton Park, leaving Graham and Redknapp aware that Arsenal were waiting as semi-final opponents for the winners.

However the players were not told of the draw before-hand and neither were the fans at the stadium.

Redknapp said the decision to hold the draw before they played their match was "scandalous" while Graham said the decision undermined the competition and was undignified.

Redknapp told the public address announcer at the stadium not to talk about the draw until after the match was over.

An FA spokesman said today: "It's written into the new television contract that the draw will now take place after all the matches have finished on the Sunday."

The new deal also stipulates that no FA Cup matches will be played on Monday nights in future.

Tottenham meet Arsenal in one semifinal and Liverpool play second division Wycombe Wanderers in the other. Both matches are scheduled for April 8th though the FA have not yet announced the venues.

Meanwhile, the FA have announced that Old Trafford will be the venue for the FA Cup semi-final between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur on April 8th.

Villa Park will play host to the other semi-final between Wycombe Wanderers and Liverpool.
