The Army made safe an explosive device in Mayfield, Cork city, early this morning.

The Army made safe an explosive device in Mayfield, Cork city, early this morning.

Following a Garda request, a bomb-disposal team attended a vehicle near a pub at 2.20am. Some residents were evacuated from nearby properties, and the improvised device was made safe without a controlled explosion.

The scene was declared safe at 4.30am.
