The Meteorological Service last night forecast "exceptionally windy" weather for today but downplayed suggestions that it would be very severe.
It "will probably make the news", a spokesman speculated, "particularly in the south "and west", but that was all the wind, however, will be general all over Ireland, with heavy rain in some areas. Rainfall will vary from place to place.
The spokesman said there would "probably not be flooding" except, maybe, where there was snow on nearby mountains.
