COTONOU - The former Marxist military ruler, Gen Mathieu Kerekou, won Benin's second multi party presidential election, according to official results announced by the constitutional court. Gen Kerekou won 52.49 per cent of votes from last Monday's run off, against 47.51 per cent for President Nicephore Soglo, who was seeking a seconds five year term, it said.
