Asmara - Eritrean and Ethiopian artillery gunners exchanged fire for several hours yesterday on the eastern front, Eritrean radio reported. Officials in Asmara and Addis Ababa had earlier reported that all fronts along the 1,000-kilometre (600-mile) border were quiet, and a correspondent on the western Badme front reported it was calm yesterday afternoon.
