While many households are wrestling with the back to school blues today the transition to autumn will be eased with a brief Indian summer this week.

Met Éireann says temperatures will rise from tomorrow and reach 22 degrees by midweek.

Most of this week will be mostly dry with long spells of sunshine with the south and east likely to enjoy the best of the weather.

Today is likely to start cooler and cloudy with temperatures of 16 to 18 degrees and some showers with sunny spells emerging later.
