Ernie Els collected a record-equalling World Match Play Championship title and a stg£1million prize after comfortably beating Thomas Bjorn 4 & 3 in the final at Wentworth today.
The big South African, ranked second in the world, joined countryman Gary Player and Spain's Seve Ballesteros as the only men to win the 39-year-old event five times.
Bjorn had delayed defeat with a hole-in-one at the 179-yard 14th but Els clinched victory at the next.
Bjorn's ace was only the third in the tournament's history. It earned him a £37,000 car to go with the runner-up's prize of £400,000.
