THE recent cold snap pushed electricity consumption to record levels, according to the ESB. Last week, it recorded a peak load of 3,080 megawatts, including the highest nightly load and the highest midday peak load. However, this is unlikely to be matched this week, as it will not be "spectacularly cold", according to the Meteorological Service.
