The round three offers bring good news to more than 1,000 CAO applicants. Of the 442 new degree offers, 150 were offers of first-preference places. Of the 783 certificate/diploma, 407 were also first-preferences. At the end of round two, 32,010 students had accepted offers of third-level places compared to 33,681 at the close of round two last year. The picture at degree level shows 16,788 students preparing to register for college. This is a slight increase on last year's figure of 16,437. At certificate/diploma level, the picture is quite different as 15,222 students had accepted offers by the end of round two, compared to 17,244 last year.
