"LOOK to your library - a challenging time" is the title of the autumn conference organised by the Republic of Ireland branch of the School Library Association.
Childrens' book consultant Wendy Cooling will talk about ways of promoting the library, creating a good reading environment and encouraging the development of skills that will enable young readers to become enthusiastic independent readers.
John Fahy of UCD's education department, will speak about teenage reading while Laura Plumber, chairman of the School Library Association, Northern Ireland, will talk about "School libraries into the future". Finally, Margaret Cruickshank, writer and reviewer of children's books, will talk on "The age of innocence".
The conference takes place on Friday, November 22nd and Saturday, November 23rd, at the Church of Ireland College of Education, 96 Upper Rathmines Road, Dublin 6. Cost: £20 for SLARI members and £25 for non-members.
