The Teachers Union of Ireland (TUI) is inviting new teachers to a couple of "Special Startup Seminars" taking place this week. Part-time or wholetime teachers will be made welcome in the Cockburn Suite of Cork's Metropole Hotel tomorrow and in the Teachers Club, Parnell Square, Dublin, on Thursday. Both sessions begin at 6.30 p.m.

The just-published Conflict and Confrontation in the Classroom, written by teachers Sean O'Flynn and Harry Kennedy, will be available. It provides a basic framework for those teachers beginning their careers and its authors will be on hand to answer questions. Union officials will be on hand too, to help with queries about salaries, rights, conditions of service and more.
