Second level students with a bit of imagination may be interested in a competition to name a new ship for the Naval Service. Entrants have to stick to some basic rules about what sort of names are eligible and must accompany their name choice with a 500-word explanation. The winner gets a prize of £500 plus the opportunity to attend the commissioning ceremony in Cork. The two runners-up also get to attend the commissioning ceremony and win £200 and £100 respectively.
