Who was your favourite teacher and why?

The late Bishop of Kerry Bishop Diarmuid O'Sullivan who taught me Irish and the late Fr James Kissane, who taught me history and geography.

Who was your childhood idol?

Mick O'Connell and Johnny Culloty (two of Kerry's finest footballers!)

Who was your best friend and why?

Michael O'Keefe - we got on very well and still keep in touch.

What is he/she doing now?

He's teaching in Kilkenny.

What TV show/film most reminds you of your schooldays?

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

What song most reminds you of your schooldays?

Either I Don't Like Mondays by the Boomtown Rats or Óro sé do bhea tha bhaile - a great Irish tune.

What food most reminds you of your schooldays?

Shepherd's pie or "cow pie" as we used to call it.

Who did you take to your debs?

We didn't have a debs in my day, sadly.

Would you send your children to the same school you went to?

Yes - Laurence is there currently and Padraig went there before going on to UCD.

What was the best thing about your education?

Football after school and the odd film.

What was the worst thing about your education?

I was a boarder so I didn't get home too often and that was hard.
