The Hong Kong Federation of Students took to the streets last week to protest against curbs placed on the freedom to mount demonstrations. Demonstrators in Hong Kong have to notify the police seven days in advance for any public sit-down meeting of more than 50 people or a procession of more than 30. The students did not seek a permit.
